Well, yeah. Even the "weakest" character can become the best and the strongest if you take the time and put forth the effort to make it happen.

Well, get another strategy for it then. I know how annoying those things can be.

Make an MP tank weapon for Maria and/or give her and Sophia Convert Damage to MP (Preserve HP - Tattered Tome) and MP Regens.

If your two don't have that then that's why they keep dying. Their HP and DEF isn't worth squat ;p

Other than increasing their durability through converting damage to MP if you don't want to do that then try sticking to long range mode as much as possible and not getting hit ;p

Good luck lew

SuperJolt -

Awesme! Have fun with your current game

Yeah I love high MP bars too - only thing was once when I got Peppita to 50'000+ MP when I had the Valkyrie Garb equipped and fed her all the HP plus berries as well she had 99'999 HP along with it

Fayt and Luther is the hardest pair in the game, IMO, since Lenneth and Freya don't team up for some serious pwnage (at our expense!).

They become much easier if you wait until the point before you fight Lenneth at floor 210 of Sphere, where many level to 255.

Earlier encounters with those two usually need a lot more strategy. In my last file, I pretty much had to wait for Evil Fayt to use a minor attack so I could Stun AAA him in order to safely damage Luther. Took forever until one of them died <.<

Heard Air Raid does really good knocking both of them down after dodging a few attacks and sneaking up behind 'em

Agreed. Was my punishment for not doing whatever to increase affection between Fayt and the others. T_T
I don't even know how to do it!

I wasn't level 255.
I was barely level 200 when I fought her (probably less). lol.

Yeah, I got lucky and killed them first try. My main motivation was, "don't wanna do that puzzle again....don't wanna do that puzzle again.....DON'T WANNA DO THAT PUZZLE AGAIN!"....."Yay, I won!"

Absoultely. Tis one of my best combos, actually. I use Air Raid on Long X (I think) + Etherial Blast on Long O because of Air Raid's knockback. They get thrown far enough away that I can have time to charge up Eth Blast and hit for a lot.
Only downside, is that you HAVE to have berserk or else you won't have enough fury to cancel bonus into Eth Blast after Air Raid.

Affection points are added/subtracted between Fayt and Company through "Private Actions"---those times when Fayt has a choice in responding. For instance at the beginning in the Hotel, the choices made there somehow affects characters millions of miles apart before you even meet each other

I only found out about the specifics in the Affection FAQ on GameFAQs, though I had a vague idea of its existence because of Star Ocean 2 =P

Sophia can get paired with Fayt bloody easily, which I don't mind except for the fact that in Urssa she knows how to cast a REAL Meteor Swarm, allowing Fayt to cream everyone being hitstunned every second by raging meteors of doom.

Luther's still the harder pairing because of his wide radius attacks. It's annoying dealing with Perfect Symmetry and Ethereal Blast at the same time---often there can be no safe place to hide

Aw, I can't singlehandedly decide what the majority of SO3 players do?

lol sorry, merely based my assumption on how fast one can raise 3 characters to max Level. 1-2 hours tops with Triple EXP, +100% EXP acquisition and fast eliminations of those fishies in Sphere.

Kinda sucks how I'm so used to the fast grinding there. Leveling in turn-based RPGs feels sooooooo boring now, and I was a kid who actually liked that grinding 5+ years ago.

XD Great motivation. I didn't really enjoy the dungeon much, though I appreciated the battles (as always) and shortness for a postgame area.

The last puzzle was cool with me, though. Just had to remember the simple FIRE + AIR combination to reach the final battle

Ooooh, nice to hear Ethereal Blast works here. I never thought Fayt could get enough time, and stuck with the faster but much less damaging Blade of Fury > Air Raid combo.

Yeah.....I think I have my Sophia with Fire Bolt and Meteor Swarm. Extremely easy to cancel bonus that.

Sad how the AI of the game can use attacks better than the player that spent over 400 hours on the game, huh?

Not unless you're watching them all at the same time at all hours of gameplay. o_o
**Spoilers**
And you don't wanna be watching me 'play' with Sophia. xP

I always used those slow bug things and the spiders. There's a really good spot....I think on floor 180 where you can go in, battle (only monster there), run to the exit a few steps away, run back in, and then battle it again, Simply repeat and you got some quick kills there. I managed to kill them with an Air Raid and Eth Blast and had Cliff and Sophia on cleanup for the ones it missed. lol.

I know what you mean. T_T
Though, it's always fun to play those turn-based ones that you played in the good ol' days for nostalgia. Those I can still tolerate.
Though, even I have my limits. All flash and no substance (i.e. KHII) bores the hell outta me even if it IS fully realtime.

Yeah, definitely shorter than Sphere 211. lol.
Though, the part that bugged me was that I couldn't find a guide with the directions, so I ended up having to wait for Gondor to come over in the summer and get me through it.

Hm. BoF and Air Raid would be an interesting combo. Hard to pull off since it would take a bit of time for Air Raid to start up after BoF, but interesting nonetheless.
But yeah, when you play with ONLY Fayt the entire time, you tend to learn to connect his attacks. lol.

Maybe it's just too sensitive. It seems a character has to have at least a certain number of points before s/he is considered to be a good enough friend to be coupled with the epitome of awesomeness that is Fayt (in-battle self, that is! Not the "Okay, we'll get you some Spring Water. *finds spring* I have the Spring Water. *goes to fairy* Here, Spring Water." Fayt).

I only got the Alone ending, Sophia ending, and Adray ending (favorite so far) over the span of 10+ playthroughs. Granted, only 2 were story-viewing/100% completionist styled trials.

All the Endings are on youtube by a user named ramzacloud if you'd ever like to see them. I haven't spoiled myself yet because this game still maintains decent interest.

This one's got the goods

http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/536705/33269

Affection isn't terribly helpful considering it only covers two aspects---Evil Fayt's partner (well, this can be big if you have extreme trouble with a previously encountered duo and NEVER want to face them in the same room together AGAIN) and an Ending. Although I think it affects AI behavior such as who gets Healing and when, characters going after enemies targeting a different character that the one character holds dear, etc...

Quote:

XD Yes.

In my case both Maria and Mirage's AI can Crescent Locus chain really well, but when I try it the enemy ends up falling on the ground too soon. *sweatdrop*

Ooooh, I'll keep that spot in mind. Fish can be more aggressive at times than the bugs.

Heh, Cliff and Sophia on cleanup.

Cliff: "Max Shockwave!" *massive damage*
Sophia: "Fire Bolt!" *non-existant damage*

Yes, yes, reeks of Cliff bias.

I have no problem enjoying those normally. It's just... the powerleveling has been tweaked down a few notches.

FF7- file back from FF obsession days with Level 99 characters on Disc 1 [somehow thought something special would happen for maxing Aeris' Level out ;_;]

Most recent file... Level 55-60 chars at the final boss. Powerleveled for a while, but the anticipation of the results from doing so died soon after, so that was ended. Aside from that, a great nostalgia run that kept a good number of positive feelings once experienced.

Just fine by me considering I've got less time on hands than the junior high period. But when I do get a streak of free gaming time and want to get something like that done... ugh =P

A quick nostaliga run of Chrono Cross and its Element System provides all the color education you need for Star Ocean 3 XD

So you're the Fayt guy, and Gondor is the Albel one, huh.
