Recently, I've been challenging myself on the first 3 Silent Hill games and doing a fairly difficult challenge. Using only basic weapons. I've basically goteen the challenge tackled on the first and third games, but I really haven't gotten into 2 yet. Now I ask you, are you up to the challenge?
Just follow these basic guidelines for each game and see how well you do: Silent Hill 1 Difficulty: Normal-Hard (I actually tested this challenge on Easy, but I found it's workable on Normal) Weapons allowed: Kitchen Knife, Handgun, Steel Pipe (there are some times where ammo is short, and you'll need about half of it for one boss, and the knife can't hit everyone easily so the Steel Pipe is acceptable) Silent Hill 2 Difficulty: Normal-Hard Weapons Allowed: Wooden Plank, Handgun (you get the Steel Pipe way too late for it to be remotely acceptable, and it's also a little too strong compared to the regular pipes) Silent Hill 3 Difficulty: Normal-Extreme Weapons Allowed: Knife, Handgun, Steel Pipe Go ahead and challenge yourself and see how quickly you get yourself stuck in a situation. There are a few rules to follow when doing this challenge that I decided to take note on...and this applies to all 3 games: 1 ~ You must follow the guidelines exactly, no exceptions (Difficulty is an exception if you want to "test the waters" first) 2 ~ If you cannot complete the challenge for whatever reason, then the challenge is declared impossible to accomplish, etc. 3 ~ Screw the Star Ranking system, it's not going to matter anyway. 4 ~ Have fun scaring yourself half to death when one of your plans go wrong and a boss almost kills you. ![]() And an update - I finally found videos for Silent Hill 5, so take a look at the SH5 thread for the vids.

I don't like to torture myself with those challenges, the game has good weapons for one reason: for us to enjoy like psychos killing everything in sight

Well I just finished SH3 under the circumstances listed, and I found that The God was way too easy. Finished her in 3 minutes flat, no damage. I'm also changing the rules on weapons allowed for the game and will allow the use of the Katana only when killing the horses on the carousel before fighting the Memories of Alessa. Consider it more as a tool for solving a riddle.

The final bosses of them are at least. I found that I had an easier time killing Mary/Maria and The God with the Handgun vs a shotgun or hunting rifle.
And both games have a boss that'll seriously strain your supply...that'd be Eddie in 2 and Memories of Alessa in 3... The thing that sucks the most about fighting Eddie in SH2 is that 99% of the time, you'll get hit at least once by him, and he's also the biggest danger to your Star Rank 99% of the time. As for SH1, it's actually quite easy if you know how to be frugal with your ammo, saving it for bosses or trying to even out the number of enemies you kill by shooting. And for an edit on the rules: The Bullet Adjust feature can also be used...in fact, it's recommended.
