This is exactly why I have been M.I.A for awhile, I've been playing this A LOT. Anywhere, here is the review, enjoy.

Story review:

While the world of Dragon Ball Z is a very complex one, this game has succeeded where so many DBZ games before it have failed, with the exception of Budokai 3, which was a very good game as well. The game follows all of the DBZ stories from the opening Saiyan Saga to the Evil Dragon Saga of Dragon Ball GT. This includes the moves, such as The Legendary Super Saiyan Broly, Coolers Revenger, and Tree of Might, as a select few examples. Because of this, cut scenes aren't so great, you mostly get still shots of the characters talking, because you can only get so much onto a single disc game, had they not done so, the game would probably be around eight discs or more.

Game play review:

The game play is simply awesome, you get over 120 characters (This includes transformations) to choose and customize to your style of play. By customize I mean as you play throughout the game, you come across Z Items, which you equip to make your character stronger and faster, giving the game an RPG feel to it as well. There are several moves for each character, though as said before with the story, because there is so much content packed into the game, a lot of the moves look the same, but this doesn't in any way make the game less fun to play.

All of the characters have their signature moves, Vegeta has his Final Flash. Goku has the Kamehameha wave. Just two of the many Ki based attacks the characters get. You are also able to fuse like in the series (At a later time in game play) which will, like in the series, make you far stronger and give you new moves, such as Vegito and his Five Finger Beam attack.

During combat, if two characters unleash a powerful Ki attack such as Kamehameha and Big Bang Kamehameha (Gogeta SSJ4 only), it will result in a power beam struggle, which is quite fun to try and overpower your enemy.

The same goes for Rush attacks, such as SSJ4 Gogetas Ultimate Impact and SSJ Gokus Meteor Smash, if both characters use an attack such as that, it will result in something similar to that of a power beam struggle, with the exception that it is with fists. The one who gets the most hits off knocks the enemy flying across the map, getting an advantage to unleash the same attack again or unless a Ki attack

There is more than just the story mode to play, you have the option of participating in the World Tournament, or taking on the Ultimate Z Battle challenge. Both have Z Item rewards to get for completion. You can also duel a friend, or set up tag battles with the CPU and challenge yourself with a 1 vs 5 match.

Conclusion:

Over all this game is awesome, it will not disappoint any fan of the DBZ series. Even those who are not fans are bound to enjoy the game. I say give it a chance and rent it.
