Story review:
The third installment of Hideo Kojima's hit series, Metal Gear Solid. Rather than playing as Solid Snake, you play as Naked Snake, later to be known as Big Boss. This game covers a few loose ends with the other games. When you start the game up, you find yourself on an aircraft, preparing to preform the worlds first H.A.L.O (High Altitude, Low Opening) jump. After the cutscene, you find yourself in the midst of the of a Soviet jungle, where you must then make your way to Sokolov, a prisoner of the Cold War being forced to work on the Shagohad, a Bi-Pedal tank capable of launching nuclear warheads. After locating and rescuing Sokolov you find yourself confronted by the Ocelot unit, in which Snake swiftly, but beautifully takes out. After which, you are to head back and get Sokolov out of Russian territory and back into the U.S, but your mission is abruptly interrupted as you cross the bridge, by Snakes old mentor, only known as The Boss.



Gameplay review:
The gameplay is simply awesome. You have an assortment of weapons at your disposal later in the game, until then, you're stuck with the Tranquilizer gun. After a few minutes of messing with the controls, you'll be set to take on the stealth mission, that is of course if you choose to sneak your way through, rather than shoot any thing that moves, which you will later regret.

One of the greatest things though is that Kojima decided to throw in camouflage, making it easier to evade your enemies if you have the right camo equipped at the right time and place. An assortment of Camouflage can be picked up later in the game, a long with some matching face paint to help conceal yourself and remain undetected. CQC techniques have been implemented as well, which can prove useful, if you get caught and don't want to kill anyone.

Stamina and injuries have also been implemented. After running around for a long period of time, Snake has to eat. So you'll find yourself catching some critters to munch on during your mission. While it may sound annoying, it's really not as bad as you might think, as you'll probably only eat ten times max unless playing on the Hard or Extreme difficulty. As far as injuries go, if you're the run and gun type, expect to be pulling some bullets out of your limbs quite often. Try to avoid wondering into flames as well as falling out of trees, or expect some serious burns and a few fractured bones.

Over all, this game is awesome and well worth the money spent on it. If you haven't played it, you're missing out.
