Is G.U better than the regular series?

I have played 2 of the begining series of .hack so I was wondering is it better in the G.U series or what.Oh and before i foreget does the DVD have any meaning?

ok to start off yes the dvd has a meaning if you get all 4 of the dot hack games then watch all parts theres a storyline to it plus there are gate areas that pop up after you watch them all XD as for which is better there not there both just as good but one thing is better the normal dot hack is a lot longer than GU there are 4 vols of dot hack and there is only going to be 3 GUs but there both very good games and i have all the ones out so far for it. if your wondering where to start i would say play though the first 4 then go onto GU

I never played the original ones, but I liked G.U. a lot. I can't really say much else......sadly.

In .hack//G.U. you play as Haseo from .hack//roots. You start out as a level 1 and work your way up to a level 113 PKK* only to get data drained back to level one.
So, you start all over again.

*PKK - A Player Killer, Killer. A player that kills PKs (Player Killers) to prevent them from PKing (Player Killing) lower level players.
