So how is Shadow Hearts

I have always seen the series in stores, but have never played one. Which one is the first if they are linked in anyway. Ive always thought the game to look very good. Been wanting to play it for a while now. If i did grab one which is the best? and can someone explain gameplay? Plzkthxbie.

The first one I haven't played, so I can't say.
The second one is excellent. Though, it's a lot better if you play the first game first.
The third one I haven't played either, but I've heard from reliable sources that it's very hard and annoying. Not a good one.

The gameplay is similar to that of Final Fantasy, but the battles are totally different.
You run around in areas until random battles happen and such, but the battle system is something all in it's own.
You have something called the judgement ring. when you do almost anything in battle, you''ll have to use it. Like using and item, casting a spell, attacking, and so forth. You can make combos off of your other characters in battle to do more damage, and the more hits in it, the higher your combo bonus damage is. At some points, players can do over 100 hit combos doing a total of around 10,000 damage.

yeah.... usually these games look like FF, but the battle system are always way different...

btw, what is the story all about?

Each one is about something different, but the first two focus on a certain character as the main character named Yuri. The first one you have to kill these three gods with your teammates and Yuri's fusions (he can fuse with monster and become powerful fusion monsters) and save the world (go figure ).
The second is still focused on Yuri, but he loses all of his powers to the misletoe curse and is slowly being killed by it. You have to go and get the help of the god of wrath, Amon, to resist the curse and save the world from the people who cursed him and plan to take over the world.
The third.....I dunno. I'll let Gondor take that one.

Johnny losses his parents in an accident,when they were reviving her sister,but he doesn't remember,when he is older,he runs a detective agency,so he meets a girl called shania,who can transform into demons,and somehow he gets involved with her,lady is his sister,and she is bad cause she is full of malice,then they are off recruiting characters,and in the end they are going to kill her(but i didn't finnish it)
th first one is like yoherz said but a bit different
yuri was in a train,and he hears a voice imn his head telling him to save alice,and to protect her(this is a little annoying,the voice is koudelka's voice,whose is the mother of halley,a character you'll recruit,and then you go to a madhous to save koudelka DD)well,and a man that calles himself rogerb bacon(his master name) is a bad person(better mad DD) that wants to get the power from alice...well,and you go all through the story,and the ones who calls himself roger bacon,summons god(is an ugly alien thingy DD) and well,they are off to kill it and save the world,but then yuri and alice head to munich,where alice lives,and in the road,alice dies,and well,there it finishes the story,so in the second game yuri is looking for a way to bring her back,and he meets karin,who totally falls in love with him,and well,then he has to use the book i don't remember the name,it's in shape of a skull)and when he revives alice,she is like a monster(like in fma) and well,in the end a bad man wans to develop a time distortion so karin ends up loving yuri as her mother(she becomes her mother) and yuri goes back in time where he met alice,and he goes all the journey to save her,and wel,the others we don't know,but well,that's the story

1 and two share the same principal character,but in hte endo of the second,the story concludes,so they had to develop a new story,a new game,a new world DDDDDDDD

like most rpg,the battles are by turn and to attack and do things,you have to use the judgement ring(i laughed so much when you encounter him to give you attack boosts,to give him the ring fragments)and well,there are different modes with a tighter ring,but more power,etc.
i recomend them to you
play them in the order
you won't understand them if you don't play the first

The game is pretty awesome, except for FtNW. They could have done so much better with that game><
It's kind of like Capcom with Megaman X: Command Mission, they had experience in making good RPGs, but they did use that experience to their advantage when making Command Mission.
