So ive seen alot of talk about it lately and didnt know any of you played it. Mainly just gondor and yoherz that ive seen, but thats not my point. I want to know how the game is. I was a Phantasy Star Online freak and i mean absolute freak. I played that game for hours on end over xbox live. I was like level 150+ i believe. When PSU was announced i was giddy as a school girl, but then i learned that it wasnt quite the same and i was turned away from is harshly. I was so used to PSO that the new PSU didnt let you make your own character and actually had a storyline to care about i was like man this isnt like PSO at ALL. PSU may be a great game, but if im playing Phantasy Star its gonna have to be like PSO's online part. Hell i never played that game offline. Anyways how is PSU?

PSU is a good game. Very underappreciated.

You CAN make your own character, but only after like chapter three or four.
Yes, while it has a storyline, it's really pretty good. You get more free missions and more weapons the further you get into the game itsefl.
I'm sure Gondor can field this section since he usually has the details of games.

You CAN play online without going into story mode and make your own character, but you have to pay a subscription fee. So far as I know, the servers are still at a good size even this late on, and the game is about 10x harder, has about 5x more items and weapons (mostly things from Illumnus which they made for people who wanted that but didn't want to play online), and stronger PMs (partner machines) on online mode than offline.
If you wanna get your money's worth, online is the way to go. Most likely, you'll play it over offline anyways.

It just seems so so so different from PSO. Man i miss PSO now talking about it this much... Maybe ill rent PSU and see what all the fuss is about .

PSU is pretty good. I agree with most of what Yoherz said.

Though Ambition of the Illuminus seems more like your cup of tea (with customization and all), but it's the issue that you won't catch on to the storyline if you play Illuminus right off.

But all in all, it's the "Better than Champions of Norrath" hack n' slash RPG.

A friend of mine says this game sucks, but you seem to like it, I don't know what to think =/
I'll try it someday, but I've got some other RPGs to play first X_X

Well, it's not great, but it's not bad.
Maybe your friend just likes turnbased or semi-realtime more?

I don't know what he likes, I don't take him too seriously, 'cause I don't think he even cares he was playing FF XII last time, and he was in the viera's jungle, fighting the green dragon, and he still didn't know that mist skills had to be chained =/ he never performed a single inferno and still he was wondering why couldn't he beat the green dragon

.....I don't know any of that stuff since I never played FF12, but I think I got a good idea what it means.
Though, yeah. He doesn't sound like an RPG gamer. He's probably like FPS or fighting games better. More likely fighting.
