How is the game?

Well ive had 2 childhood friends who i remember always talking about tactics in highschool, so i figured i would ask. I want to know how good is this game? Since the new PSP one follows the story exactly (or so i read) i figured id give my dusty old psp some love with a new game perhaps? I really like tactics games and i cant believe ive never played this one . Please anyone enlighten me.

This game is unmatched in difficulty. Probably the only FF game that I've ever died more than three times in.
The game is just as the title says. Final Fantasy TACTICS. It's so tactically based, that a level one chocobo could kill my level 99.99 characters.
Though, no. FFTA is set some years after the original and isn't near as difficult.

If you mean Final Fantasy Tactics Advance with FFTA you will find i said nothing about it at all. Im talking about the remake of tactics for the Playstation Portable PSP. Ive played tactics games before and my friends had no trouble with it at all, so i dont think its gonna be a problem. Thanks for the info anyway.

I didn't know there was a remake, but ok. They probably dumbed it down in the remake like they did with FFIV. If you want the real thing and the real challenge, then try the original PSX version.

Id actually prefer the PSX version, but it would be nice to have a portable tactics game.

Ahh Tactics...hell, if I owned a PSP I would be all over that remake, and I still own my PSOne copy! A great game, very long and involved. This is by far my favorite final fantasy "spin off". Gotta love a teleporting, invisible ninja.

With all this being said i may just dust off the ol PSP anyway and ask for it for christmas.

I still say to get the original since the remake could be s*** in comparison. But, that's just me.

While that could be true you dont know that for sure. Plus if i never play the original i wont know what im missing lol.

Well, the "War of the Lions" looks cool to me, almost enough for me to go and get a psp at some point. The original was one of my fav's. It seems that it follows the story pretty tightly and just adds a few more events, characters and cutscenes without taking away from the original game play...well, if they didn't decrease the difficulty. I'm also pretty anxious to play Tactic A2: Grimoire of the Rift. I think the "Ivalice Alliance" is a neat idea and it kinda makes XII a little deeper for me, so that helped the somewhat weak story there. Hmm, I think if there is no Ivalice Alliance thread, there should be, ne?
