A little late to the ball, I know, but I recently got a DS, so why not.

A week into this game and already it has been giving me trouble. Has anyone had trouble with the Salamander in the Molten Cavern? I almost didn't make it (Luneth FTW!)! I'm beginning to think FF3 is in the running for "Best FF Game" and "Hardest FF Game" in my book, though it'll be tough to beat FF IV and FF IX.

God i love this game. I finished it just about a month ago. I never had any trouble with any of the bosses, except for the last boss beat me once then i trained some and beat him at like level 75 and job levels of 99. My team was Ninja, Dragoon, Sage, Dragoon. If you need any help though go ahead and PM me. It was by far not the hardest final fantasy ive ever played, but man was it freaking fun.

Well let me ask you this:

If you fought all the bosses with ease, except for the final boss...how did you beat the Salamander without him OMGWTF pwning your party with Fire Breath (250 average damage to all members + attacking twice per round = not fun)? I barely won that fight with only Luneth alive at 70 something HP left. I'm beginning to get the feeling that there's some ridiculously easy way out of that fight...

I really dont remember because that salamander was a long time ago, but i think i used an item that was his weakness. Or maybe i used my black mage with blizzard if you even have new class options by then. Like i said its been a long time. I just remember none of the bosses (except final) beat me. Probly one reason is because i always had someone on my team who used a ton of black magic for weakness damage and then 3 all out attackers.

That might be it...

I just checked GameFAQs and realized that my party is severely under leveled...well maybe not severely, but I think low enough to make a difference. If you want an idea, I'll put up my character levels here:

Luneth - Lv 20 Knight JLv 6?
Arc - Lv 19 Scholar JLv 8?
Refia - Lv 19 Black Mage JLv 27
Ingus - Lv 19 or 18 Monk JLv 24

And I got whooped by Hein...⌐⌐

Oh wow and i see why to. The scholar is killing your team. Also i bet you only have that scholar because a FAQ told you to do so for hein right? When i fought Hein i just used a different spell each round and i got lucky a few times and hit his weakness. A friend of mine had alot of trouble with that battle. As for the knight and black mage those are really good additions. Personally i love both of them for the start of a game. The monk im not so sure about because i dont know how strong they are.

Well I'll see how far I can get with the Scholar and if that doesn't work out in the long run, I'll make Arc a White Mage again. Monks can be generally powerful, but I'm beginning to suspect that their Mag. Def. is his biggest problem.

i havent used my nds in months and i hate the graphics and controler but a FF game is a FF game.

For $5? If I remember correctly, I got that game at 5x the price. So I'd say yeah...if you're the one buying.

lol you're already taking a break from it? God you sound like the way i do only like 3 times faster. I always end up getting a new game and forgetting about another.
