Vampire Hunter D

Vampire Hunter D was first started in 1983 by Hideyuki Kikuchi, a big fan of the old Vampire movies. Each one of his books are in novel form with several illustrated pictures.

D is a half vampire that travels a futuristic world to kill any last nobility (vampires) that may still be around. Refusing to give in to the craving for blood and yet feared by humans D is stuck between two worlds and has no ties to a certain place. It is also suggested that his father may have been dracula himself. But after a nuclear war thousands of years in the future no one knows of such a name except D and a strange facedCreature he is a host to that resides in his left hand.


What are your thoughts of this series? Do you read the story or watch the several films made after these novels?

Yeah. I found it very addictive. Instead of mangas they are actualy novels you read. What A Shock ! lolol But I realy like how he write. Nice detail but doesn't trail on forever. And even though there are over 12 books in the series each one seems to solve and create the same amount of questions.

Only thing I didn't like is the movies. They don't give the books justice. They cut out alot of well... "mature content" in the second movie and in the end they actualy created their own big bad guy. I was very disapointed in that.

There is a couple in love, a vampire and a human girl. they wish to travel to a place where they can use a rocket to get into space so they could be together forever. But D has to return the girl home and will do anything to stop them even if it means doing what he might himself not think right. In the movie the girl dies from a bad guy that never existed in the book and the vampire takes her body into the rocket and leaves. Where as in the book I'm not exactly sure any more but I think the Vampire dies then the girl kills herself because of it. Neither go on the rocket and in fact the rockets are so old they never could of flown to begin with.
