Video Game Violence

You've all heard the "video games are too violent, shield your kids from the grand theft auto" speeches. But these people who oppose video games need to realize something: VIDEO GAMES ARE A MILTI-MILLION DOLLAR INDUSTRY!!! When you get involved with that kind of money, nothing will fall very easily. There are countless people trying to sue video game companies and they all lose each and every time. If video games really affected kids, they'd run around stealing helicopters, collecting puzzle pieces, eating magic white balls, running away from rainbow-colored ghosts, and listening to repetitive arcade music. And if you fear that video games may affect your kids, use the convient ESRB rating system that's been there for about...oh...i don't know...A DECADE. It's there for a reason you know! It's there to help you pick the right game for your age group. Not to help you learn your ABC's one game box at a time. And with all the politicians and angry mothers who DARE think they can hinder the video game industry have another thing coming. And if you hear about a politician in your area saying that they want to bring a halt to video games, then I suggest that you stop them by simply not voting for them.

And that, my friends, is the big picture.

and pick up girls. XD

People should just let it slip. Children are evil and will get to anything
they want. What makes them think they can stop EVERY child from games?

Anyway, to blame a video game for ones violent actions is just childish. I agree that parents should take responisbility for their kids actions rather than saying stupid things like "Well, he played Unreal Tournement and thought it'd be ok if he went and shot people too". In most cases, a kid will not know what is right or wrong, which again is where the parents responsabilty comes in. If you think your kid may imitate something from a game, then do not let him play it. As stated, that is what the ESRB rating is for, to determine if you should let your child play it or not.

That maybe so, but kids are just going to find a way to play them anyway...[Like at a friends house or relative's house etc].As for me, I'm fourteen and my mother doesn't care about ratings and I play video games with violence all the time. And guess what? No negative affect!

Video game violence is ok for me cause most games i play include violence. If your child gets infected by it then dont let them play it. I love the grand theft auto and hitman games the best.

There is no point, and I dont think it is the game either. The game is just showing it, they only sue the games, why not also the movies and television shows that show violence. The person got control over himself, nowadays, if a kid is arrested, instantly they say, he's been playing too many video games. What about all those people in jail, many of them havent touched a single game.
