Yeh you got a real good point there TB most people in jail havent even played violent games and they get arrested. Some people might be affected by playing these violent games but its rarely cause its just a game and you got control of a character instead of your self. They should start looking into movies and television shows like you said instead of video games cause thats just cartoony graphics.

There's a book called Catcher in the rye that has caused many men to commit murder upon famous persons, celebrities, and innocent people. Like the guy that killed the dude that was in The Beetles. He read The catcher in the rye and look what happened to him. A book made him kill a celebrity. He never even played a video game. So why aren't they suing the author of The Catcher in the rye? Because it's "just a book". It's "literature". It's "completely harmless". Well, games will prosper, and a few angry moms and low-level politics aren't going to stop video games. As a matter of a fact, the game Bully had to be reviewed by a judge before it was placed on the market. After the judge watched the person play the game, watch all the cutscenes, and everything else, the jusge concluded that "nothing in this game is any different from what you would see on a niormal television show". Another example of a failed attempt by a politic. And if you wanna talk about violence, then those people prolably never heard of tom and jerry. a cat beating the shit out of a rat. tell me that's not violent. and it's a cartoon too. In all truth, old cartoons were alot more violent that the ones today. And no video games were around either. Besides, i haven't heard any claims of a child imitating a game by killing someone, or stealing cars.

It's not the game that changes them, it's themself. If it was the game, wouldnt millions of GTA players be running around the streets like CJ or Tommy?

I have played some of the most violent video games to ever come out of the works (i.e. Resident Evil). It may have changed my personality a bit, but I know that this stuff isn't real.... one moment (**blam**) had to shoot a zombie lol.
Anyways, I could care less what people say about violence and video games. I haven't seen a person play a video game and then start acting like the character in the game.

If a parent sees their children imitating a video game, or a TV show, then they need to start restricting their children, not the children of the world. ESRB, V-Chip, Windows accounts with limited access, age-appropriate AOL accounts, etc. There are so many things that parents can do to stop their kids from imitating, but when they try to stop ALL the children from playing violent video games, and watching TV shows with sex, drugs, and violence, then they're overstepping their boundaries.

There's a reason why the ESRB puts the M ratings on games. It's to give the people the idea that this game might not be suitable for children and is best for MATURE audiences. So when a parent buys their kid a M rated game to make them happy, then they see the violence in the game, they get angry at the GAME COMPANY! Now whose fault was it for buying the game in the first place?

cloud_Diamond, those stuff dont work most of the time, The kid will probably be able to bypass those somehow, all they need is probably the password of the admin and then they could probably change anything, just keylog the computer and you got passwords, use em and you can change anything. You could play it at a friend's house or find a way around it. No point in using those.
@Gondor: Great point, I agree. They bought the game for thier kids but then they go behind who did this, which is the game but the game company made it so they go after the game company.
