Yup. They were the old-school blitz creatures. They blindly attacked and blew up until the enemy was beaten.
Though, I'm sure most (or at least half) of what you saw was from the Lorwyn set. THose are the most recent ones, and only came out about a month or two ago.

Well, this goes back into MtG. Wizard would be blue (they were the original blue decks), dragons - red, pixies - blue/black, and goblins - red.
Dragons overwhelm goblins, wizards redirect dragon damage to themselves (or simply redirect and disable), and pixies would confuse and disorient wizards. Tis why I say faeries.

Yesh. Just as dragons are depicted as typically living in mountains, but still come down into plains, up in the sky, underwater (for water dragons), and other such places in order to get food.
But if you think about it, what kind of place would offer the most cover and still give the most space to cause mischief? A forest, no? One you can hide behind trees and basically do a goof & hide tactic so they have a small chance of seeing you.
A swamp would give basicially the same type of cover, that you could hide or camoflage into to take cover easily.

Well, I'd say it's much more effective by using a hit & run technique than to use the magic right out. Don't you think so?
Then again, the forests could contain medicinal herbs and other materials they need for their spells and/or to amplify the effects. But, in order to confirm this we would need a list of their spells, the materials, etc.

Regardless, I still say faeries would win.

Dragons have fire ^ ^ So it's burns in hell=)) And, i think, dust is useless against big dragon (needs tons of dust).

it probably depends on where the myth originates from. now that I think on it...where they originate from could also change what area they live in o_0 . its decided then!!!
