Ok, now this is annoying

I've got four PS2s. I've taken apart my silver one, disemboweled one of the black ones, diced up another one, and the other one is broken in half somewhere in my room.

So far I think I've figured out that I can swap out the motors on one of them and see if that works.

Keeps saying, "The disk could not be read" no matter how many times I try to make it read the disk. Could it be the optic?

That makes sense, because my original xbox quit reading disks and i had to send it in (for free) and they replaed and or cleaned the optic disk reader thing and its worked ever since

I looked at it again and I think it's the motor. I tried manually spinning the disk and found it was catching a lot. That could be it, eh?

I wonder if you could somehow get another motor and try to rig it in place of that one. Theres probly sites that explain how if you really cared that much.

Right now I'm trying to unhook the motor and swap it out for one of the black ones, but this tiny a** little screw is the only thing keeping me from doing this.

dude, you ever wondered that with tha moneyh you gave for those ps2 you could have the ps3!! O.o!! and yes, its either the motor or the optic. If the CD turns, the motor is good, try a DVD movie and see if it loads... And try "not ripped" games for PS2.. if that doesn't work, and the CD turns, its the optic

I actually don't have any DVDs.
And all of my games are non-ripped.

Yeah, but you gotta remember this money was saved up over a number of years (and a good bit of other work), just to get one of them. No way I can afford a PS3 this early in it's development, ontop of that I want one of the later versions of it so I can make sure mine has most of the bugs worked out of it.

But I can try a burned CD and see if that works. Thanks for the idea man!

Okay, so I know what your going through. Same thing happened to my niece's Playstation 2. I was there for hours pulling it apart trying to find the problem. Turned out to be the laser that reads the disk. I had to get that replaced for them.

Well, I have no motor that I can use, so I can't test either one. -_-
Thinking I'm just gonna end up saving up for a PS3 or something. Thanks for the help, though.
