what will you play.. it seems the only SJ tournement decks this season are:

Monarch control
Lightsworn
Dark Armed
Gladiators

i however dont have any of those so.. i just play random stuff.. and dont win.

how about everyone else? anyone play these?

I hate how all the "in" decks would cost over a grand -_- . you used to be able to stand a chance with what you had...

I play the random deck :/ ....

I play the cards I like, rather than any combos or deck based around anything. Seems to work quite well.

I play with a strategy that fits (fortunately, it actually stands a fairly good chance against a good slew of "in" decks). I've been using the exact same deck for two years now and have had no reason to change it.

Yup. My deck remains the same.
The only real decks I couldn't beat were the Six Samurais and a custom-made warrior deck that a friend of mine used.

I have a hard time playing if my deck has no theme. or atleast a slight theme. im working on making an anti-trap deck because traps mess me up the most. I want another jinzo, 2 royal decrees, and im already playing two mobius's :P .

.....if only I had a place to play at :/ ....

Themes annoy me. It's the same monster type or same element over and over.
The old-school decks only had a few cards that you could actually make a deck around (Baseball Kid, Gren Maju Da Eiza, Chaos Necromancer, Shadow Ghoul, Exodia, etc.), so it wasn't that you had a deck with one strategy, and if you ran into a deck with a strategy yours won't work on, you weren't f-ed over with no chance of recovery.
Also, I liked being able to take my favorite card from this set and that set and put them together (like Just Desserts from Kaiba deck and Princess of Tsurugi from Yugi deck) to make a deck of my favorites and use those cards, and then throw in some good cards like Ookazi and some Man-Eater Bugs to balance it all out.

im not saying I like decks that are 100% themed...I just have a hard time winning if my cards dont help each other out. I hate decks like gladiator beast or lightsworn where if they dont draw their combos or if they dont have the right opponent they end up losing.

I liked chaos (chaos sorcerer mind you..I dont own any envoys) , I like warriors, and if I had the right cards spellcastres would be fun too. I would also like to play an earth deck, but again dont have the right cards. all in all I always manage to have random cards in my decks. I played Lily in a chaos deck so what does that tell you ?

lolz. But the more themed your deck is, the easier it is to put one or two cards in it to disassemble it.
Ex: Fusion deck - Non-fusion zone
Warrior deck - Tribe of Regulation (I really gotta look up that card to find the name)
Fire deck - Kill spells and monster with high DEF

See my point? My deck doesn't center around anything like that, so it really can't be countered (except by maybe Gondor's deck). Trust me, people have tried to make a deck to counter mine....has never worked.

well the only thing that made mine a warrior deck was reinforcements of the army...it looked something like this:

1x Jinzo
1x Zaborg
1(2?)x Chaos Sorcerer
2x Cyber Dragon
2x D.D. Assailant
1x D.D. Warrior Lady
1x D.D. Survivor
1x Mystic Swordsman LV2
1x Exiled Force
1x Lily =3
1x Blade Knight
and a few flips. combo decks are too risky for me...the most I would try is a spellcaster deck because magicians circle and magical dimension are both really good. maybe earth themed too like I said, but I need more cards for that.
