Yeah, I hated that. I don't care how real-time it is, if they don't attack when yuo tell 'em too, it might as well be turn-based.

Most everyone does.
Gondor and I even made a point of it in a debate thread that if they had made an entirely different game with new characters, with the same character's attitudes and such, that it wouldn't have been nearly as much of an insult.
