Lmao. We tried that back in the day. Strangely enough, those games were always ties.
Then again, we also went by the "if you lose, you give up a card."
Which, MtG was ahead of them even then. The original sets included "ante" cards (which were banned a few sets later, mind you) where in the initial game, you put up one card. From there, you could force them to put up additional cards with ante cards, like "target opponent flips the top card of their deck and puts it up for ante, removed from the game" and other such things.
