Selphie is in it because she is fun and Kingdom Hearts is supposed to be a fun series. Guess they thought she seemed appropriate for the theme. She's bright/colourful/sunny. Perfect for Destiny Island.
I'm just glad they didn't give her the pwnge that is Rapture or the End in this one
