Storyline
You are Henry Townshend, and you've had a fairly normal life in Apt 302 in South Ashfield Heights for two years, but 5 days ago, chains mysteriously kept your door shut and strange things started to happen, plus you have no way of communicating with the outside world. You're trapped...but when you go into the bathroom, you find a mysterious hole there, just large enough for you to fit through. Entering the hole is only the beginning of the nightmare. Yes, the story is great and all, but it has really poor plot progression (not going to spoil the game to explain, PM me if you really want to know what I'm talking about), and Henry just seems out of place as the main character.
Sound
I still love the music and sound effects, but the voice acting is flat-out horrible, except for Eileen's voice acting, which is the exact opposite of everyone else. Henry's is the worst, for it's flat and has no real character behind it (I'll get into Henry's character, or lack of it, later in the review).
Gameplay
I want to KILL Konami for f-ing up the gameplay of SH4. I liked the 10-item limit, but they changed the controls to purely 2-D! The monsters and the addition of ghosts is nice (though there's a HUGE negative to the ghosts feature), but I feel the gameplay is RUINED by the fact that I can't control Henry (2-D) the way I control Heather, James, and Harry (3-D)! It really pisses me off, folks! Let's not forget how tedious it freaking is to get 10 Stars in this game, since you still have to beat it in 2 hours or less, but some of the puzzles will keep you there for more than that! Talking about that big negative to the ghosts, they're a serious B-TCH to kill, and they won't permanently stay down unless you have an incredibly rare item in your possession at the time, but they're in limited numbers (adds to the level of strategy). Sure that's not too bad, but if the ghosts weren't so damn difficult to kill, then it really wouldn't be a problem.
Value
Why did I even give it a score above 0? Oh wait...there's the extra stuff, sexy alternative costumes for Eileen and Cynthia, the only good gun that EILEEN can only equip, 4 endings, and god knows what else. Though the lack of character from the main character, who really should have the MOST character (which is ironically Eileen), really puts a damper on the value of this game.
Graphics
The only good score in this review...my opinion on this game graphic-wise is the same as all of them.
This game is under my list as number 2 under my "Worst Games of All Time List", only ahead of Kingdom Hearts II, and behind number 1, which is Final Fantasy X-2.
If I think this game sucks, and if you looked at all my other SH reviews, then you'd know that I think this is the WORST Silent Hill game in history. I wouldn't be too surprised if a good number of people agree with me, but if you don't, and have a real issue with what I think, then write your own review and make another thread.
