I agree and disagree to Gondor Reficul, yes I do not want to see a sequel to this game, simply for the reason that the game was concluded with all the pieces already in place. i mean, every question was answered every puzzle was solved, end of story.
but i disagree that it was the worst final fantasy ever. for that argument i have a couple of points.
the draw/junction system is not that bad for one, because every single final fantasy (new ones 7 8 9 10 10-2 11 12) have their own little gimmick. atleast the draw/junction system seems more real(in their own respect) than that of ffx where you venture around the sphere grid lvling. which im my belief was just lame, no one expects to get "more str" when i lvl then get "more agi" the next then i will learn "mug" XDDD anyways, GFs are junctioned to learn from, ala FFVII materias. and no, for goodness sakes, dont just draw magic from enemies that would give you a headache XD try refining magic from items. use your GF skills, they were there to make the game a lot less stressful.
The story in my honest opinion is a very good one, the plot twists are in the right places and I for one was captivated by the love story between squall and rinoa. you said that it doesnt have one? have you played FFX2? now that doesnt have any XD.
after all was said and done, FFVIII did a very good job of distracting me from studying.. hahahah... i guess it all depends on what the player's opinion is and how they like they're games...i like mine clean and unruined.. so i hope they wont spoil FFVIII by making a sequel >.<
