You actually don't have to type in spells, though assuming you type fast with NO grammatical errors, you could...but that'd be hard. Clicking to access spells, weapon skills, or items is also slow. That's why there are macros.
Mmm, random examples;
Magic: Type in macro list /ma "Cure" <t> or assuming you play Red Mage or Black Mage: /ma "Fire III" <bt>
Weapon Skill: /ws "Asuran Fists" <bt>... <t> works too, <bt> is handy for Rangers, Red Mages, and Black Mages.
Items: /item "Hi-Potion+3" <me>
All that is explained in the manuel, though...or ask another player how to set them exactly, if for some reason this didn't help.
